Safari Umoja is a "journey" (safari in Swahili) of transformation, not wildlife viewing. What makes us unique is our focus on reimagining community by bringing together the best of different worlds - balancing Western individualism with Kenyan Ubuntu wisdom ("I am because we are"). We create a living experiment in cross-cultural collaboration, exploring what's wanting to emerge as new ways of being in community. Rather than focusing solely on personal healing, we discover how stepping fully into your unique gifts while honoring our interdependence can create collective impact and shape a future that hasn't been created yet.
Your Safari Umoja experience includes 6 days and 5 nights in a sustainable eco-hut with all delicious Kenyan meals. You'll receive a carefully designed integrative journey with embodied practices and healing modalities that balance individual self-exploration with community immersion. Not included are international flights, local transport to the location, travel insurance, and optional excursions like wildlife safaris or city tours.
Visa Requirements: You must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online at least 3 days before travel. Your passport needs 6+ months validity and two blank pages. Apply at: etakenya.go.ke
Vaccinations: Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory only if arriving from endemic countries or transiting >12 hours through them. If important to you, you can consult all recommended vaccinations in the official CDC guidance: wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/kenya
Travel Insurance: We recommend comprehensive coverage including medical evacuation, but this is your personal responsibility to assess and arrange.

No prior experience with embodiment practices, breathwork, or ceremony is required; you are welcome exactly as you are.
What creates a safe and transformational space for everyone is your willingness to take ownership of your emotional journey and responses. This means approaching the experience with curiosity about your own patterns and taking responsibility for your reactions will support the collective container.
Important: Breathwork and embodiment practices can be physically and emotionally intensive. Please use your own discernment regarding any health conditions, medications, or mental health considerations that might be affected by these practices. We want everyone to feel nourished and included. Our meals are already vegetarian, and we're happy to accommodate other dietary needs like vegan, gluten-free, or food allergies when you let us know in advance. Dama and Flora, who prepare our meals with love, will work with us to ensure you're well-cared for.
For accessibility needs, our eco-retreat setting in coastal Kenya has natural terrain and traditional structures that may present some challenges. We're committed to finding creative solutions where possible, but want to be transparent about the physical environment so you can make an informed decision.
